The Prairie Riders headed out for their annual camping trip on July 13-15, 2007, at the Door County Camping Retreat. Located about three-and-a-half hours from Pleasant Prairie, Door County Camping Retreat is a picturesque facility located outside Egg Harbor near the Green Bay coast of Door County.

Door County CampgroundThe club reserved the group campsite for tent campers and group events, and several families reserved RV sites and cabins nearby in the campground. Tent campers included Rachel Petrusky and Chris Leach, Toni and Greg Skalla, Judy Pietkiewicz and family, Jody Hammond and family, and Bill Luebbers. Family RV sites included the Sikorski family, the Lebbin family and the Falk family. The Rockow and Petrusky families enjoyed the campground's cabins. All club members could use the group site for communal events like the group dinner.

Among the amenities enjoyed by Prairie Riders during the weekend camping trip were:

While in Door County, the Prairie Riders could:

  • Visit the Horseshoe Bay Beach.
  • Travel to Ephraim and Sister Bay for shopping, mini golf and go-carts.
  • Visit Peninsula State Park.

Eagle's Tower at Peninsula State ParkAt the state park, guests can rent and ride bicycles through the many trails or climb the Eagle's Nest lookout tower. Located atop a 180-foot limestone bluff, Eagle Tower offers extraordinary views of the park, Green Bay islands, and the Michigan shoreline.

The 75-foot tower was originally built as a forest fire observation platform but soon became a primary tourist attraction. In 1914, the park's first manager ordered observation towers to be constructed at Eagle Bluff and Sven's Bluff. The original Eagle Tower was replaced in the 1930s, but Sven's Tower was removed in 1947 and never replaced. However, a scenic overlook is now located at Sven's Bluff.
