Party Riders Big Adventure

If you enjoy bicycle riding and beer, consider joining this summer club event: the Fat Tire Tour of Milwaukee on Saturday, June 18.

This 20+ mile ride through the streets of Milwaukee is marked by frequent stops at local watering holes — it is not an endurance ride. Recreational riders in good shape will be able to enjoy a day in the fine city of Mu-wau-key celebrating all things Pee-Wee Herman as the 27th annual ride pays homage to "Pee-Wee's Big Adventure." Get your red bow ties out, practice dancing to "Tequila," get ready to nail that creep who stole Pee-Wee's bike, and remember, there is no basement in the Alamo.

The ride will start and finish at Best Place, the old Pabst Brewery headquarters and visitor center located at 901 W. Juneau. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., and the ride will start at 10 a.m. Several stops are planned, including Benno's in West Allis, the Hank Aaron State Trail, Lakefront Brewery and Wolski's Tavern.

Several Prairie Riders participated in this ride in the past and give it enthusiastic thumbs up. It’s not really an event you can describe, but it’s certainly one that, if experienced, is never forgotten!

Registration for the Fat Tire Tour of Milwaukee is $24.99 through April 1; $30 until June 10; and $40 for on-site registration they day of the event. Every FTTM rider receives event T-shirt and socks as well as the opportunity for other swag and prizes at most of the stops. (Remember to bring plenty of cash, because though amazing, the beer is not free.)
